Classic List Threaded. Joel Lopez. Hi, I'm trying to decipher what the values are in the info presented. I need to determine how far apart the keyframes are. Are these miliseconds and bytes?

Iqama number

Werner Robitza. Anything between 2 and 10 seconds is reasonable. The size is in Bytes. But this won't tell you how far the keyframes are apart. Thanks for the help. It's making a bit of sense now. Is less than 2 seconds apart ok? Does that translate to how far apart they are? For adaptive streaming the keyframes should be at regular intervals. That means, for encoding, you'll have to specify a keyframe interval and disable scene cut detection, if any.

Just do the subtraction of the PTS between two consecutive I-frames. That was definitely easier to read. I did a grep for "I" for my 4 versions of the same video at different bitrates.

I can now tell that they keyframes aren't aligned and under 1 second apart. All my research says keyframes must be aligned and a constant separation between 2 - 10 seconds.

Should I re-encode these videos or could they still work? I saw that it's be possible to force keyframes on an existing video. That's what's typically done. Please don't top-post on this mailing list; your reply should be below mine.

Nicolas George. As an additional note, the second solution if by far preferable, because forcing the frame type too frequently ruins x's bit allocation algorithms. In reply to this post by Joel Lopez. Could I just run my unaligned files through ffmpeg again with a set keyframe interval and disabled scene cut detection? Or do I need to scrap them and re-encode the source file and generate new files that are properly aligned?

We have thousands and am trying to save time where possible. You will have to re-encode the files from source. Please do not top-post. You don't have to disable scene cut detection. For example it can be used to check the format of the container used by a multimedia stream and the format and type of each media stream contained in it. They can be set to false by prefixing the option name with "no". For example using "-nofoo" will set the boolean option with name "foo" to false.

Some options are applied per-stream, e. Stream specifiers are used to precisely specify which stream s a given option belongs to. A stream specifier is a string generally appended to the option name and separated from it by a colon. Therefore, it would select the ac3 codec for the second audio stream. A stream specifier can match several streams, so that the option is applied to all of them.

An empty stream specifier matches all streams. For example, -codec copy or -codec: copy would copy all the streams without reencoding.

I've been attempting to figure this out for forever now I'm new to programming and I can't figure it out. I'm attempting to build a script that will test the file, and give me output from which I can get information like "Audio Format" that I can then put into the filename. However, I can't even get the script to return any file info.

I've hit a wall at inserting an input file So at this point I just need help getting it to spit out info based on the argvs I've thrown in. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to parse the audio info from that. Edit: Looks like you are having problem with ffprobe commandline, so I installed it and changes you require are:.

I'm using ffprobe to get timecode from an mxf which has DF timecode but with a non DF frame rate. I'm running ffprobe -i "IMX 10bit. I'm not sure what is going on here, but anyway you don't need DF timecode when you have NDF footage - this appears to be running at 25FPS so the timecode will run in real time anyway.

DF is only going to be useful to you when you are running at a non-integer frame rate. Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top.
